From 14-19 July 2014, a No. 33 Squadron KC-30A Multi-Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) conducted tasking throughout the Pacific, including transporting passengers between Australia and Guam; operating to Yokota Air Base in Japan under a United Nations agreement with the Government of Japan; and hosting a visit by senior-ranking officers of the Japanese Air Self-Defense Force. The KC-30A is a vital strategic capability for the RAAF, able to carry up to 270 passengers over long distances as well as conducting air-to-air refueling.
